Role & Responsibilities:
The individual will perform tasks associated with the design of indices:
- Source, cleaning and organising time-series
- Source, cleaning and structuring securities’s static data
- Understand, specify and prototype local market conventions
- Develop spreadsheets to prototype and manually calculate new indices
- Draft index rules
- Perform back-testing of indices
- Test administration and production environments
- Quality control of daily index production
For training purposes, and to ensure a high level of quality in all aspects of the index business, the individual will likely to rotate occasionally to do index administration.
A high degree of detail orientation is required.
There will also be requirements to include equity indices as part of multi-asset class indices, some of which will include a dynamic allocation strategy. In these cases, the individual will be expected to work closely with other index teams in Markit.
The individual needs to be, in order of importance
- Energetic
- Financially and mathetically literate
- A team player
Experience required:
- Basic quantitative studies, such as math, engineering, finance or a natural science preferred. No advanced degree required.
- Basic programming skills, such as VBA and basic SQL a plus.
- No management experience required, the individual is expected to be a strong team player, with proven track-record of working with people that are not functionally aligned to them, inside and outside of work.
- Medium requirement. We need someone who is detail oriented enough to build high quality, superior products.
- Pleasant personality, other people will need to want to work with him/her as the individual will not have direct reports. Looking for someone that is enthusiastic, energetic, detail oriented, team player.
- Good communication skills with clients and team members is a must.
