Reading based opportunity for broad ranging qualified solicitor. Applicants encouraged to apply immediately, as this will be a swift hire.

The Solicitor will be responsible for providing legal advice to support the business. The scope of the role includes the following areas:

  • Conveyancing
  • Money Laundering
  • Securitisation
  • FSA requirements, including MCOB
  • 3rd Party Contracts
  • Data Protection
  • Employment Law
  • Litigation
  • Property

There will be a strong collaboration with Compliance Advisory, Monitoring and Financial Crime colleagues.

Key functions will include:

  • To deliver a high quality, efficient and “can do” legal service to all aspects of the business.
  • To provide commercial and legal input into contract negotiations and standard business documentation.
  • To assist in management of relationships with Corporate and Panel Solicitors.
  • To liaise with both internal and external service providers to support the business.
  • To provide agreed monthly reporting on legal developments and issues to senior management.
  • Risk and Compliance Management: To ensure the business complies with all legal and regulatory requirements and operates within a regulatory framework.
  • To ensure the company is adequately protected in its contractual relationships with customers.
  • To contribute legal advice to specific projects.
  • To undertake and monitor legislation, codes of practice.
  • To work in collaboration with Compliance Advisory, Monitoring and Financial Crime colleagues to ensure the consistent delivery of regulatory and legislative standards.
  • To comply with the Code of Business Ethics and ensure that responsibilities regarding Treating Customers Fairly, the Prevention of Financial Crime (including money laundering, identification and reporting of fraud) are carried out effectively and in accordance with the Company’s internal policies.
  • To provide leadership to the team ensuring that team members are kept informed of all major business developments
