Role Context Our Financial Services Advisory team specialises in assisting firms in the development of their governance, risk and compliance arrangements including; the design of operating models, improvement in processes, procedures, regulatory developments, and assessment and remediation of issues. Our practice focus is around Enterprise Risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk and Regulatory Risk. Role Purpose With the complex credit environment leading to increased demands for our services, we are looking to recruit Assistant Managers / Managers in our Credit Risk team in Scotland. The primary focus of the role will be the delivery of client projects; however, as an Assistant Manager/Manager in this team you will also be expected to participate in technical research and the development of new product/services - both locally and nationally, as well as developing a network of relationships in the market. The successful candidate will be expected to support and lead client projects in addition to promoting and developing our practice capabilities, core requirements are as follows; Client Delivery - To proactively work with new and existing clients to deliver high-quality output, advice and assurance across specific subject matter including operating model design, process optimisation (full lifecycle), regulatory development (including Basel II) and / or leveraging investments in capabilities (e.g. models)
- To act as a subject matter expert (SME) advising and supporting our clients in meeting FSA requirements
- To lead and influence key stakeholders in progressing change in order to address any identified issues
- To develop and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders
- To communicate relevant risk issues to internal and external stakeholders
- To provide accurate and timely reporting and management information where required
- To manage engagement risk effectively and ensure key client deliverables are met
Practice Development - To proactively build and develop business relationships with clients
- To actively promote the capabilities of the Financial Services Advisory Group, both internally and externally
- To identify opportunities across existing and new clients and manage these accordingly
- To liaise directly with members of the team (and across the firm) to develop opportunities and extend personal network
- To support local, national and firm-wide initiatives and engagements
- To actively support the delivery of industry-leading propositions and research
Core Experience / Knowledge Requirements - Graduate with Degree qualification in relevant discipline
- Relevant experience in a Financial Services Environment or Consultancy with specific exposure to Credit Risk management, including regulatory developments such as Basel II.
- (Desired) Relevant professional qualification (institute of Credit Management, etc.)
- A detailed understanding of the principles surrounding the ICAAP (Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process) and the impact this has on credit management and related functions
- A clear view of the FSA’s expectation in relation to Basel I/II ‘pillar’ approach and the implications this has on credit management
- An overall understanding of modelling techniques utilised across the industry to determine LGDs/PDs/EADs, how input/outputs are tested, and the overall impact this has across the credit process and related business units, e.g. Finance/Forecasting, etc.
- Experience of RWA reporting and how this is used to inform and update capital calculations
- Overall experience of implementing or advising on governance and control frameworks required to embed Basel II.
- An understanding of related FSA directives and the impact they have on the Credit management, e.g. KYC, AML, Responsible Lending, Consumer Credit Act, etc
- A clear understanding of the macro environment and the impact this will have on capital calculation going forward
- An understanding of related tools & techniques, covering process, technology, MI.
- Overall understanding of risk across the credit lifecycle and inherent challenges
- An understanding of industry best practice in relation to capital allocation
- The individual may be expected to work on national projects
