The Equity Markets Group undertakes equity derivatives activities in global equity markets. It utilises its risk management capabilities to originate equity-based financial solutions and products for retail and wholesale clients globally and also undertakes equity finance and hedge fund activities.

The successful candidate will work with a variety of front-office and back-office groups in support of the Derivatives businesses for the UK operation. They will interact on a daily basis with the senior management team of the Derivatives business, responding to their operational requirements, and providing input to define and execute business strategy. Responsibilities will include: Operations Management - responsible for managing all operational teams (6) supporting the UK business, including:
  • Trade Support
  • Complex Product Support
  • Business Improvement
  • Collateral Management (shared management responsibility)
  • Corporate Actions (shared management responsibility)
  • Operational Control (shared management responsibility)

Specific role duties include –

New Business - facilitating implementation of new product rollout and expansions

Financial Reporting / Analysis, and Budgeting - own operations headcount and associated expenses.

  • Strategic Investments - facilitating the investment-decision process and monitoring performance
  • Business Management - supporting trading / sales functions including coordination of client profitability, complex trade bookings, communication with Exchanges, infrastructure, liaising with FA&O to resolve business issues; and, review of various business MIS/ key indicator reporting
  • Internal Controls - working with Management, Compliance and Internal Audit to maintain the integrity of the Business’s internal controls . You will work closely with Ops Risk, Compliance and Legal as required to ensure procedures are developed, refined, observed and updates as the business evolves or as mandated by the relevant regulators.
Experience and Skills Required:
  • Significant industry experience in an international firm
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to present information to senior management and regulators concisely and confidently
  • Conceptual thinker with strong problem solving skills
  • Highly motivated and driven
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Direct front office support experience would be beneficial, e.g. financial reporting & analysis, IT, Operations, Product Control
  • The ability to manage multiple, competing priorities; project management experience very helpful
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) preferably in a Finance or Accounting related discipline.
  • Strong PC skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
